Gas South Partner Spotlight: YMCA of Metro Atlanta
06/27/2025
Gas South is committed to supporting the communities we serve, and one of the ways we do that is by giving back 5% of profits every year to nonprofit organizations that serve children in need.
To help focus our efforts, we give most of these donations to our 10 Fuel For Good Allies, all nonprofits that work to support childhood basic needs, education and health. This week, we wanted to take a moment to spotlight the YMCA of Metro Atlanta, one of these 10 groups we’ve been proud to partner with for years.
The YMCA of Metro Atlanta serves more than 250,000 people every year, proving to be a valuable part of the Atlanta community. They help create a sense of belonging, reduce disparity and empower community members to thrive. And much of this effort is focused on children.
“We’re proud to call Gas South not just a partner, but a true champion of our mission,” said Meggan Hood, vice president of communications at YMCA of Metro Atlanta. “Their generosity has opened doors for kids and families across our region, particularly through their investment in adaptive swim and water safety, where they’re helping us teach children with diverse abilities how to swim.”
“But what really sets Gas South apart,” she said, “is how deeply they show up: They volunteer. They connect us to new partners. And they amplify our work in ways that help us grow our impact. Strong partnerships like this don’t just support programs, they help change lives. They remind us what’s possible when people and organizations come together to lift up community.”
The organization is constantly working to overcome challenges, Meggan said, and that means staying agile, listening deeply and striving to remove barriers when possible.
“One of our biggest challenges is also one of our biggest responsibilities: making sure that every child, every family and every neighbor has access to resources, regardless of income, ZIP code or ability,” Meggan said. “That work takes creativity and the right partners at the table, and we’re grateful to have Gas South standing with us.”
The YMCA of Metro Atlanta was founded in 1858, helping to address critical needs and build stronger communities. It operates through 18 family locations, two resident camps and more than 50 early learning and afterschool sites throughout the metro area. And all of us at Gas South are thrilled to be part of that success.
“We’re excited to continue growing this partnership in the years ahead,” Meggan said. “Kevin Greiner (Gas South president and CEO) has been a tremendous champion for the YMCA of Metro Atlanta, serving on our board, leading as a past chair and continuing to show up as a true partner in this work. Looking forward, we hope to continue to deepen our collaboration. Adaptive programming is a growing focus for us, and Gas South’s support is helping us expand that work across the metro area. Whether it’s through strategic funding, hands-on volunteering or connecting us to other mission-driven leaders, Gas South continues to be an invaluable part of our YMCA family.”
If you’re looking for more ways to give back to your community, volunteer with the YMCA of Metro Atlanta, or consider making a donation.
