About the Transition

Who is Gas South?

Gas South is a leading provider of natural gas in competitive markets throughout the Southeastern U.S. Gas South currently serves more than 300,000 residential, business, and governmental customers in Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, and South Carolina. Gas South offers simple and competitive rate plans, outstanding local customer service, and a promise to give back 5% of profits to support children in need.

Can you provide more detail about the transition?

On December 18, 2020, Gas South announced the closing of its acquisition of Infinite Energy. Gas South expects the acquisition to more than double its annual revenue to nearly $1 billion and to expand its customer base to over 425,000 residential, commercial, industrial, and wholesale customers throughout the southeastern U.S. Under the terms of the acquisition, Gas South acquired Infinite Energy’s wholesale and retail natural gas business and customer list, located primarily in Georgia and Florida. Gas South’s headquarters will remain in Atlanta, but the company expects to retain a presence in Gainesville, Fla., where Infinite was founded in 1994.

Will I be charged for this transfer?

Pursuant to Commission Rule 515-7-3-.04 (13), there will not be any fees assessed to you. Also, your right to one free annual switch will not be affected by the transfer of your account to Gas South.

My Account

How will I know when I become a Gas South customer?

Gas South began serving Infinite Energy customers in Georgia on June 1, 2021. Your account has officially transferred, and you should receive your first Gas South bill soon.

What has transferred from my Infinite Energy account?

If you were on a standard fixed rate plan with Infinite Energy, your rate and agreement terms have carried over. If you were on an Infinite Energy variable rate plan, your new account is on a Gas South variable rate plan. Infinite Energy Advance customers have been moved to Gas South’s BridgePlan Variable Rate.

Where can I find my Gas South account number?

Your Gas South account number is listed on the front of the letter we mailed to you. You can also find it on your first Gas South bill.

How can I manage my Gas South account?

Gas South has made managing your account easy with our 24/7 Online Account Services. Billing and Payment

Will I receive another bill from Infinite Energy?

You should expect to receive a final bill from Infinite Energy for your last month of service. Please pay any outstanding Infinite Energy balances directly to Infinite Energy. Gas South will pick up billing right where Infinite Energy stops. Rest assured, you won’t be double-billed for usage.

When will I receive my first Gas South bill?

You’ll receive your first bill shortly after your meter is read. You may receive your first Gas South bill and your final Infinite Energy bill less than a month apart. You can verify there is no overlap by checking the meter read dates. Both bills are valid and should be paid. Please make sure to send your final Infinite Energy bill payment to Infinite Energy.

Will my current Auto-Pay and paperless billing preferences transfer to Gas South?

No. Because of the way payment data is encrypted for your protection, your payment information and preferences cannot be transferred from Infinite Energy to Gas South. Now that your service has started at Gas South, you can manage your payment preferences through your online account with Gas South. To enroll in paperless billing or Auto-Pay, visit GasSouth.com/register to set up your online account.

What will happen to the deposit I paid to Infinite Energy?

Your deposit will be applied to the charges on your last Infinite Energy bill.

Will Gas South charge me a deposit?

Gas South never charges a deposit.

What if I have credit with Infinite Energy?

Any Infinite Energy credit balances you have after paying your final Infinite Energy bill will be applied to your new Gas South account within 90 days.

What are Gas South’s payment options?

Just like Infinite Energy, Gas South has several convenient payment options. Now that you have your new account number, you’ll be able to make payments online, over the phone, in person or by mail. You can even set up Auto-Pay or paperless billing. Go to GasSouth.com/pay to see a complete list of our various payment methods.

Can I choose my own payment due date with Gas South?

No. Gas South is currently unable to offer the option for you to select a preferred due date when paying your bill.

I used to get an invoice number on my bill. Where is it?

Gas South does not provide invoice numbers on bills.

Why is my plan expiration date different?

In order to ensure we honor the term of your rate plan, we may have made a minor adjustment to your expiration date to accommodate our billing logic. If such an adjustment was made, it extends your agreement by no more than one month.

If I choose to switch marketers, why would I still get a bill from Gas South?

Atlanta Gas Light completes all switches on the 20th of each month. If you were to request to switch providers after the 19th of May, AGL will make the switch effective on July 1. In the case of this transfer, effective on June 1, you would become Gas South’s customer and would receive a bill from Gas South for the period of June 1 to June 30.
